Blonde balayage, airtouch and foilayage in Calgary

I do blonde balayage from my chair inside Logix Hair Salon in Marda Loop, Calgary, along with airtouch and foilayage. All three lighten hair without the flat, obvious regrowth line a full foil head leaves behind, so the blonde grows out soft instead of stopping in a hard band at the root.
What balayage, airtouch and foilayage actually are
Balayage is lightener painted on by hand, freehand, with no foil. Because the colour is placed rather than saturated all the way to the root, it grows out gently, and you're not stuck coming back every six weeks to fix a line.
Airtouch does the same job with a different tool. I section the hair with a blow dryer before any lightener goes on, which blows away the fine, weak strands and leaves only the coarser hair to be lightened. The result reads softer and more natural once it's toned, with less visible striping than balayage alone.
Foilayage sits between balayage and a full foil service. I still paint the lightener on freehand, but I wrap sections in foil where I want the strongest lift, usually around the face and through the ends. Which technique I use for you depends on your starting colour, how much grey is in the mix, and how light you want to go.
This works best if you already have some natural lift in your hair, or you're moving one to three shades lighter than your natural base. It also suits growing out a box-dye blonde or a solid colour without a visible line every few weeks.
How the appointment goes
- Consultation. Every appointment starts here, always. We look at your hair's history, any previous colour or keratin treatments, and agree on how far we can safely take you today versus over a few visits.
- Application. I paint or foil the lightener by hand, working in sections, placing the colour where it will grow out softest rather than saturating uniformly to the root.
- Processing. The lightener develops while I keep an eye on how your hair is lifting. K18 goes in during this stage on most services, to protect the internal bonds while the colour is doing its work.
- Toning and finish. Once we're at the right level, I tone to take out any brassiness and finish with a blowout so you leave seeing the actual result.
Price
Prices are before 5% GST. What moves you within that range: your length and density, how far you're going from your natural colour, and whether there's old box-dye or colour-correction work to deal with first. You get an exact quote after the consultation, not a guess over text.
Partial work usually takes three to five hours. A full airtouch or foilayage usually runs five to seven hours from start to finish, including the blowout.
Where I say no
I will not take your hair lighter than it can hold in one visit. If your hair's history, a strand test, or what I see at the consultation tells me a full balayage today will break it, I'll say so before any lightener touches your head. We'll split the work into two or three appointments instead, spaced out to let your hair recover between them.
I'd rather you leave healthy after three visits than damaged after one. If that's not the timeline you were hoping for, I understand, and I'll tell you honestly what is possible today versus what needs to wait.
Aftercare
- Wait 48 hours before the first wash so the toner and cuticle have time to settle.
- Use a sulfate-free shampoo. Regular shampoo strips toner faster than anything else you do to your hair.
- A cool rinse at the end of your shower closes the cuticle and keeps the blonde from turning dull.
- Book a toner refresh every six to eight weeks between colour appointments if you want to hold off warmth or brassiness.
- Keep up with a bond-building treatment at home. I sell the K18 line I use in the chair, or ask about adding cold hair restoration to your next visit.

How often do I need to come back?
Balayage and airtouch are grown-out techniques by design, so most clients come back every eight to twelve weeks for a refresh, longer than a full foil colour needs. A toner top-up between visits keeps the tone from turning brassy.
