cold hair restoration

Cold hair restoration in Calgary

From $90, or $60 as an add-on

A K18 molecular treatment, applied cold, that rebuilds the internal bonds colour and lightening break down. I offer it on its own or added onto any colour or cut, from my chair inside Logix Hair Salon in Marda Loop, Calgary.

Healthy, glossy hair after cold molecular restoration

What cold hair restoration actually does

Colour, lightening and regular heat styling all break the internal bonds that give hair its strength and elasticity. Most conditioning treatments only coat the outside of the strand, which helps it feel smoother without doing anything to fix what's actually broken underneath.

Cold hair restoration works differently. I use K18, applied without heat, which rebuilds those internal bonds directly instead of sitting on the surface. The result is hair that's measurably stronger, not just softer to the touch for a day or two after the appointment.

It works well on its own, but I use it most often built directly into a blonding or colour correction appointment, since that's exactly the kind of processing it's designed to counter.

People sometimes ask how this is different from a keratin treatment or a standard deep conditioner. Keratin treatments coat the hair with protein from the outside, which can make hair feel thicker temporarily but doesn't repair what's broken inside the strand. A deep conditioner works the same way, adding moisture and slip on the surface. K18 is built to repair the polypeptide chains inside the hair itself, so the change holds up through washing rather than rinsing away with the next shampoo.

How the appointment goes

  1. Quick check. I look at how your hair is behaving, whether it's from recent colour, heat damage, or just general wear, so the treatment targets what's actually going on.
  2. Application. The treatment is applied cold, straight onto clean or freshly coloured hair, with no heat involved at any stage.
  3. Processing. It needs time to work through the hair shaft, which is why it's worth booking on its own if your schedule that day is tight.
  4. Rinse and finish. A rinse and blowout finishes the appointment, and you'll notice the difference in how the hair moves right away.

Price

Standalone treatmentFrom $90
Add-on to colour or cut$60

Prices are before 5% GST. The add-on price applies when you're already booked in for colour or a cut, since I can build it into that appointment without extra setup time. On its own, it runs a little longer and is priced accordingly.

Where I say no

I will not sell this as a fix for hair that has already broken off or split beyond repair. It rebuilds bonds inside the strand, it does not reattach ends that are already gone. If your hair is at that point, I'll say so and suggest a trim alongside the treatment instead of letting you spend money on a result it can't actually give you.

If your hair is already in good condition, I'll tell you honestly that this is optional for you rather than something you need at every visit.

Aftercare

  • Avoid washing your hair the same day if possible, to give the treatment time to finish working.
  • Keep up with a bond-building product at home between visits. I carry the K18 leave-in I use in the chair.
  • Pair it with your colour appointments going forward rather than only booking it once damage is already visible.
  • Heat styling is fine again once you're home, but less heat overall means the results last longer.
  • If you colour regularly, ask about building this into every appointment rather than treating it as an occasional extra. The bonds it repairs get broken down again each time you lighten.

Questions

What is cold hair restoration?

It is a K18 molecular treatment applied cold, without heat, that works to rebuild the internal bonds of your hair that lightening and colour break down. It restores strength and shine rather than sitting on the surface like a standard conditioning mask.

How much does it cost?

From $90 as a standalone treatment, or $60 as an add-on to a colour or cut appointment you're already booking, before GST.

Do I need it if I'm not colouring my hair?

It helps most on hair that has been through heat styling, previous lightening, or chemical damage of any kind, so it's not only for people colouring that day. If your hair is already healthy, I will tell you honestly that it's optional rather than upselling it.

Can it fix already-broken hair?

It strengthens and repairs bonds within the hair shaft, but it cannot reverse hair that has already snapped off or reattach split ends. For hair in that condition, a trim alongside the treatment gives a more honest result than the treatment on its own.
