Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal information I collect through thetonedoctrine.com and my booking system, why I collect it, and what rights you have over it. I am Valeriia, an independent colourist working under the name The Tone Doctrine, renting a chair inside Logix Hair Salon in Marda Loop, Calgary. This policy is written to meet the requirements of the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA), which applies to private-sector businesses operating in Alberta.
What I collect
Depending on how you interact with the site, I may collect:
- Name, phone number and email address, when you book an appointment or message me.
- Appointment details: service booked, date and time, and notes relevant to your service (for example colour history or a patch test result).
- Technical and usage information collected automatically when you visit the site: pages viewed, device and browser type, approximate location from IP address, and on-page interactions such as scrolling and button clicks.
Analytics: Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity
This site uses Google Analytics 4 to understand how many people visit, which pages they read, and whether they book an appointment. It uses Microsoft Clarity for the same purpose, and Clarity works differently in one way worth being direct about. Clarity records a replay of your session on the site, meaning mouse movement, scrolling and clicks, so I can see where visitors get stuck. Clarity automatically masks anything typed into a form field and does not record individual keystrokes, so text you type is never captured in a session recording. Neither tool collects your name, email or phone number unless you separately give it to me by booking or messaging.
How I use it
- To respond to booking requests and manage your appointment.
- To keep a record of your colour and service history so future appointments are consistent and safe.
- To understand which parts of the site are useful, and to improve them.
Who else sees it

I do not sell personal information to anyone, for any reason.
Where your data is processed
Square, Google and Microsoft operate infrastructure outside Canada, including in the United States. When you book an appointment or browse this site, some of your information may be transferred to and processed on servers outside Canada, where it is subject to the laws of that jurisdiction.
How long I keep it
- Analytics data (Google Analytics): retained for 14 months, then automatically deleted.
- Appointment and service-history records: kept for as long as you remain an active client, so your colour history stays accurate, and for a reasonable period after your last visit in case you return.
Your choices
- You can opt out of Google Analytics using the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
- You can block Clarity and Analytics cookies through your browser's privacy or cookie settings.
- You can ask me not to record notes beyond what is needed for your service.
Your rights
Under PIPEDA and Alberta's PIPA, you can ask to see the personal information I hold about you, ask me to correct it if it is wrong, or ask me to delete it. To make a request, email me at valeriiaoleshkevych@gmail.com. I will respond within 30 days.
